LOCAL WINERIES  ARE BRINGING IN THE FRUIT

Some of our favorite wineries and winemakers in Woodinville are making magic with the 2006 harvest.  Matt and Lauren went out last week to meet with Mike Januik of Januik Winery and Scott Moeller of Novelty Hill Winery.   Things were really hopping with crush upon them and grapes filling the parking lot. These winemakers are really pleased with the 2006 crop.  Scott says the reds particularly are  not quite as “big” and ripe as the 2005, a little more closed and presenting the opportunity to craft some really complex wines.  The reds have lovely tannins and balance and the whites are lush and ripe and will produce strong varietal characteristics in the wines that result.   It’s always amazing to realize that from the

chaos of crush order is always restored and marvelous

wines spring forth from the finished bottles months later!

These are two solid producers.  Some particular favorites

at the Grape Choice Wine Bar,

         regardless of the vintage are

                                     Januik’s Syrah and Red Table

         wines and Novelty Hill’s Semillon

        and Sauvignon Blanc.  Both wineries

are slated to be part of the new

                                      elegant Woodinville complex out by
